First COVID-19 Vaccine’s Administered at NOSH
February 9, 2021 – Today the first COVID-19 vaccines were administered to all consenting residents, Essential Care Partners (ECPs), and staff at the Wilkes Terrace Long Term Care facility located in The McCausland Hospital.
“Today marks the beginning of the next stage in our fight against COVID-19 as we have our first vaccines administered here at North of Superior Healthcare Group (NOSH).” Adam Brown, Chief Executive Officer says “It’s an exciting milestone but also a reminder that we are not out of this pandemic yet. As we wait for more vaccines to come to our area, it is important to remember to follow all public health measures such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, washing your hands and staying home if you are sick.”
A vaccination team has been designated in each community led by the Marathon Family Health Team and the North Shore Family Health Team, in their respective areas, in partnership with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit who will be in charge of all vaccine efforts. There is no estimated timeline on when the NOSH catchment area will receive more vaccines, but if you have any questions, please get in touch with your primary care provider.
