The North of Superior Healthcare Group (NOSH) is proud to announce the launch of Vital Tools, Vital Care. A $600,000 fundraising campaign dedicated to purchasing essential medical equipment for Wilson Memorial General Hospital and McCausland Hospital.

Access to modern medical equipment is fundamental to delivering safe, timely, and effective healthcare—particularly in rural and Northern Ontario communities where distance, weather, and geography can significantly impact patient outcomes. This campaign will directly support the purchase of life-saving diagnostic and monitoring equipment that enables patients to receive high-quality care closer to home.

“Healthcare teams rely on modern tools to make critical decisions in moments that matter most,” said Adam Brown, Chief Executive Officer. “This campaign is about ensuring our physicians, nurses, and clinical staff have the equipment they need to respond quickly, diagnose accurately, and provide exceptional care to our communities."

Funds raised through Vital Tools, Vital Care will support the purchase of the following priority equipment:

  • Cardiac Heart Monitor for Wilson Memorial General Hospital ($200,000), enabling real-time monitoring for patients experiencing cardiac emergencies
  • Fetal Heart Monitor for Wilson Memorial General Hospital ($10,000), supporting safer pregnancies and deliveries
  • Stand-Alone X-Ray System for McCausland Hospital ($320,000), allowing for faster diagnoses and reduced patient transfers
  • Laboratory Coagulator Equipment for both Wilson Memorial and McCausland hospitals ($35,000 per site), critical for emergency, surgical, and anticoagulation care

In rural and northern settings, timely access to diagnostic equipment can mean the difference between immediate treatment and long-distance transfer to another facility. Modern equipment reduces delays, enhances patient safety, and supports care teams in delivering services locally whenever possible.

“When patients can be diagnosed and treated close to home, outcomes improve—not just medically, but emotionally and financially for patients and families,” added Dr. Megen Brunskill, Chief of Staff “This campaign is an investment in the health and resilience of our region.”

The Vital Tools, Vital Care campaign invites individuals, businesses, service clubs, and community organizations to contribute at any level. Every donation supports tangible improvements to healthcare delivery and helps ensure NOSH hospitals remain equipped to meet current and future needs.
